a brief description of the manga hajime no ippo: the story in hajime no ippo is about the eponymous title character ippo makunouchi. a very shy, always helpful and friendly high school student. however, he is also very naive and so it happens that he all too often becomes the victim of bullying a few of his classmates. one day they lurk under a bridge to make him even harder than usual. but by chance they are discovered by a passing jogger, who makes the attackers harmless without further ado. it turns out that the jogger is mamoru takamura, an up-and-coming professional boxer blessed with a talent of the century. so impressed by him and with the determination to become stronger, ippo decides to become a boxer. and after his first sparring in kamogawa gym, it is clear that he also has talent and a predisposition for boxing.
